Sufi: Life and Art — a WIEFF Community Visit to the British Museum

On 19 April 2026, WIEFF members and guests came together at the British Museum’s Albukhary Foundation Gallery for a community visit to Sufi: Life and Art.

The exhibition introduced the diversity of Sufi traditions through works from the Middle East, North and Sub-Saharan Africa, and northern India. Its objects and artworks opened a window onto themes including mystical love, devotion, asceticism and the many ways Sufi communities have expressed their spiritual lives across different regions and periods.

For WIEFF, the visit offered something distinct from a formal seminar or finance panel: time to learn, reflect and build relationships through a shared cultural experience. The afternoon’s combination of art, history and conversation created an enriching setting for members to connect with one another and explore a significant part of Islamic heritage.

WIEFF thanks everyone who joined the visit and helped make the afternoon thoughtful, enjoyable and memorable.
