Academic dialogue and student engagement in Islamic and ethical finance.

Samina Akram spoke at the 17th SC-OCIS Roundtable, hosted by the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies with Securities Commission Malaysia. The two-day discussion explored the relationship between capital, climate and innovation under the theme Building Resilience.

The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies is a Recognised Independent Centre of the University of Oxford. This engagement brought Samina into discussion with leaders from Islamic finance, policy and research.

Samina joined Mudassar Chaudhry, Hinna Awan and Anam Zaka for a Banking & Finance webinar organised by King’s College London’s Pakistani Society. The panel brought students together with professionals from Samak Ethical Finance, EY, J.P. Morgan and HSBC.

Her engagement with King’s also includes speaking alongside Harris Irfan at the launch of the Islamic Finance & Ethics Society (IFES).

IFES Career Panel 2020 · 12 November 2020 · Online

At the invitation of Danyal Khan from LSE, Samina was announced as a speaker for the IFES Career Panel 2020 alongside Sultan Choudhury OBE, Shahzad Younas and Sana Shafi. The panel formed part of IFES’s student-led dialogue on careers and Islamic finance.

In her announcement, Samina reflected on speaking at several IFES events and the society’s role in connecting students, academics and business leaders.
